Retail Closing Shift Supervisor Job Description:
As a Retail Closing Shift Supervisor, your primary responsibility is to oversee the operations of the retail store during evening hours, ensuring a smooth closing process and maintaining excellent customer service standards. The Retail Closing Shift Supervisor is responsible for managing the daily operations of the store, particularly from 12:30 p.m. to about 5:30 p.m. This includes supervising staff, ensuring efficient workflow, maintaining store cleanliness, and securing the premises. You will work closely with the store managers to make plans for the day and provide direction for closing staff. The role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service. Retail management or supervisory experience is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
· Team Management: Supervise and support the closing shift team, including assigning tasks, providing guidance, and ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures. Work closely with management to work out plans for the afternoon
· Closing Procedures: Oversee the closing process, including cash handling, securing the premises, reconciling sales transactions, and ensuring all closing tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
· Customer Service: Maintain high standards of customer service, addressing any customer inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring a positive shopping experience for patrons during closing hours.
· Inventory Management: Assist in inventory counts, restocking shelves, and ensuring merchandise is accurately accounted for and stored appropriately.
· Security and Safety: Ensure compliance with safety and security protocols, including locking up the store, setting alarms, and following safety guidelines to protect employees, customers, and store assets.
· Reporting: Prepare end-of-day reports, documenting sales, inventory levels, and any incidents that occurred during the closing shift.
· Communication: Liaise with the store management team, providing updates on closing shift activities, identifying any issues or improvements needed, and contributing to team meetings.
· Training and Development: Support the training and development of closing shift employees, fostering a positive work environment and promoting teamwork and productivity.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a retail environment preferred, with a proven track record in a supervisory or managerial role.
· - Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
· - Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to interact with staff and customers professionally.
· - Knowledge of retail operations, including cash handling, inventory management, and closing procedures.
· - Flexibility to work evening shifts, weekends, and holidays as required by the business. Some morning shifts may also be required.

- Must be able to lift/carry items up to 30 lbs.
